This is what we THINK we know about Mary Elizabeth (Finn) Anderson.
According to her Obituary (click to enlarge) she was born December 27, 1877 in Oxford, Mississippi.
Grandma Hazel Anderson has made literally dozens of Photo Albums through the years and her Album says that Lizzie's parent's were Pat and Elizabeth Finn
BUT according to Lizzie's Obituary her father's name was Micheal Finn.

Either way, whatever his name may be, Lizzie's Census Records show that her Father was born in Ireland!!! So there you have it folks- you're Irish! You have an immigrant -straight off the boat- just a branch or 2 up your Family Tree!

When she was still a young girl her father, The Immigrant, died and
Lizzie wound up living with relatives for a short time in Arkansas. Maybe with the same sister mentioned in her Obituary- Jane Darrington of Arkansas?

She must not have stayed in Arkansas long though because her Obituary said she lived in Indian Territory (present day Vian, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma- about 45 minutes from the Arkansas border) when she was still just a young girl.
It was here in Indian Territory that she met and married Richard "Dick" Anderson (1873-1933) who was part Cherokee Indian. They married in 1895 when Lizzie was 18 years old and together they raised 9 of 10 children in the Sycamore area of Vian, Sequoyah, Oklahoma. They both resided in Vian until the day they died and are buried in the Anderson Plot at the Vian Cemetery (the one on the hill).
